Illustrations for Damon Young’s weekly column for the Washington Post.

I’ve loved the Sunday strips since I was a child, taking in the wit and satire of the medium with absolutely no idea what it all meant at the tender age of 6. As I got older and my ability to understand the writing grew so did my love for these strips. Satire informs a lot of my work today and in some respects my life ;)

I had the opportunity to put that lifelong love to work on a weekly collaboration with Damon Young, author of “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Blacker: A Memoir in Essays”. The column explored anxieties and absurdities of American life – specifically culture, class, money, and race.

Pairing my illustrations with his writing was a treat.
